Search for Missing Woman in North Yorkshire: Family Urges Caution for Volunteers

Belongings of Missing 34-Year-Old Found Near River Derwent

The family of Victoria Taylor, a 34-year-old woman who has been missing for five days in North Yorkshire, is urging volunteers to stay safe while helping in the search.

Taylor was last seen on Monday morning at her Malton, North Yorkshire home. Later that day, CCTV footage from a local garage captured her. Several of her personal belongings have since been found near the River Derwent.

Family Thanks Searchers, But Emphasizes Safety

Her sisters, Emma and Heidi, expressed their gratitude to those who helped but stressed the importance of not risking personal safety.

“We appreciate the support from the emergency services and volunteers who have been helping to find Vixx,” they said in a statement on Friday. “The local community has really come together, and we are deeply thankful. However, we urge everyone to be cautious, especially near the water, as conditions are dangerous due to recent weather.”

Police Continue to Search with Specialized Teams

Victoria is described as a white woman, about 5ft 6in tall, last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Adidas jacket, and a grey Jack Wills hoodie. She was carrying a salmon-pink Vans backpack.

North Yorkshire Police have been reviewing CCTV footage and using drones in the search.

Inspector Martin Dennison said, “We are very concerned for Victoria’s safety. While we appreciate the public’s help, we urge caution, especially near the river. Our officers have the necessary training and equipment for these searches.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police by calling 101 or 999 if there are immediate sightings.
