Surrey Tragedy: Father and Three Children Found Dead in Family Home

In a tragic event that has shocked the Surrey community, the bodies of a father, Piotr Swiderski, and his three young children were discovered in their home on Bremer Road, Staines-upon-Thames, on Saturday afternoon. The police arrived at the scene around 1:15 pm, where they found the lifeless bodies of Piotr and his children, all under the age of four.

Neighbors believe the family was of Polish descent, with some recalling seeing the children, who were all boys, playing outside frequently. A floral tribute was placed outside the house, with a note that read, “Rest in peace, little ones. We will always think of you.”

The police have confirmed that the children were related to Piotr and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths. However, officers believe this to be an isolated incident with no involvement from anyone else. The children’s mother and other close family members have been informed and receive support from specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Hicks, leading the investigation, described the incident as “truly tragic” and reassured the community that a thorough investigation is underway. He expressed gratitude to the residents for their patience and understanding during the police’s inquiries. Although Bremer Road was temporarily closed, it has since been reopened, but there will continue to be a police presence in the area for the foreseeable future.

A neighbor, Shehr Sikandari, who lives next door to the family, reported hearing “horrific screams” shortly before the police arrived. He described the experience as “unbelievable and traumatic,” noting how the children were full of life and often seen walking in the park or playing outside.

Postmortem examinations and formal identifications are expected to take place soon. Additionally, due to previous interactions with the family, Surrey Police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to assess whether any further action is needed. An IOPC spokesperson confirmed that they have been notified of the incident and will review the referral accordingly.
