Teenager Arrested After Three People Found Dead
A teenager has been arrested after three people were found dead in a flat in Luton on Friday morning. The police were called after people became worried about the residents.
Police Called to Luton Flat
At around 5:30 AM, police received a call about concerns for the people living in a flat on Leabank. When emergency services arrived, they found three people with serious injuries. Sadly, all three died at the scene.
Arrest of 18-Year-Old
Shortly after the bodies were discovered, an 18-year-old man was arrested on Bramingham Road. He has been taken into police custody for questioning about the deaths.
Investigation Launched
A Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit team has started investigating what happened. The police are working hard to obtain more details about the case.
Weapon Found at the Scene
John Murphy, a senior officer at Bedfordshire Police, said a weapon was found during the search after the arrest. He also explained that they would not release details about the victims, such as their age or gender until their families have been informed.
No Other Suspects
According to Murphy, the police are not looking for anyone involved in the incident. He said the victims had been “badly injured” and were declared dead at the scene.
Local Residents Speak About the Incident
A resident, Davy Bridgestock, who lives near the flat with his partner and two sons, shared his experience. He told ITV News that his son woke up screaming after seeing armed police outside. “I looked out the window and saw police with guns everywhere. It was terrifying.”
His partner, Lauren Purcell, added, “We also saw the fire brigade and didn’t know if there was a fire. It was frightening because we’ve never seen armed police in this area before.”
They both said that the neighbourhood is usually quiet and peaceful.
Police Statement on the Tragic Event
Detective Superintendent Rob Hall said the deaths of the three people deeply saddened the police. He called the incident “terrible and shocking” and promised that the police would work hard to figure out what happened.
No Threat to the Community
Hall assured the public that the police believed there was no danger to anyone else in the area. In the coming days, more police officers will be around the neighbourhood to help answer questions and support the local community.
Police Request for Information
The police have asked anyone with information about the incident to call 101 and mention “Operation Longacre.”
The police arrived at the flat at 5:30 AM after receiving a call about concerns for the residents. They found three people who had been injured, but all three were pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old man was arrested nearby and is now in police custody.
